LT1 383

I recently swapped a lt1 in my camaro, it'
s nearly 300 hp, it kick *** but I'd like to get something with more power do you think it would be better to build a 383 lt1 or just supercharge the lt1 ... everything is stock on that motor.

I was thinking about going with that on the lt1 or 383lt1:

LT4 HOT CAM KIT
ROLLER ROCKERS 1.6
PORTED MINIRAM
30 LBS INJECTORS
COMPLETE DUAL EXAUST
AND 3.42 GEARS
aluminium driveshaft
12 bolt rear-end

how much power should I expect from each different setup (supercharger & 383

------------------
LT1 POWERED
HEADMANS HEADERS
NEARLY 300 HP.

EATS MUSTANGS FOR BREAKFAST

next mods:
crane roller rockers 1.6
lt4 hotcam kit
airfoil
58MM edelbrock trottle body
new paint (wet look blue)
17' rims with 275 zr 40 and 245 zr40

hey matt hows it going? Im slowly gettimg my car to where I want it, but its taking some time and money. I've also been curious about the 383 or s/c question, but then I saw the best of both worlds. a while back Super Chevy did a 383 LT1 build-up that they then added an ATI procharger to and it also had nitrous ports welded onto the intake manifold. that thing had to have been a monster. Ive got the issue at home if you want me to run some copies of it.

Im assuming that your engine you got from a wrecked car with around 50K....... Id go for the 383 becuase you will basically get a brand new engine with that.... and if for some CRAZY reason that is not enough power bolt the supercharger on your new fresh many miles left engine

Probably 400HP with 383 compared to 450HP
Benifits of 383
Long lasting engine (no forced induction)
basically a new engine since yours has a lot of miles on it
very cool set up still have room to work on car like chaning spark plugs etc (supercharger gets in the way)
Supercharger benifits
prolly a little cheaper
will wear down engine pretty quick (i dont see you babying this set up )
gets in the way
sucks when you got to rebuild htem

PERSONALLY, I would go with the 383 with some serious head and intake mods you could push the 383 up to 450.

mat, Ill look for the article when I get home today, as I recall though, I didnt get the issue that had the performance numbers, I had the one before it with the build-up info. It'd still be interesting reading if you want it
