Junkyard Buildup
I'll be doing a 383 buildup as soon as I can. Just wondering about some things. I'll be getting most of the parts from junkyards, I'd like to find a L98 350 in good shape and have it checked to make sure it's good. Is the L98 OK for boring and honing to 383. Also, I want to try and find some Corvette aluminum heads, once again will this work. I don't see why it shouldn't. While I'm doing this I want to get, from a junkyard or private seller, a complete TPI system. I'll be putting on a miniram and I don't want to pay 3750 for the complete kit. I also want to get a 3.42 rearend from a V6 and throw a posi unit on there. Not sure if it will be able to hang w/ that much hp though. I really don't see any reason why this wouldn't work, but if anyone outh there who is smarter than me can make any suggetions, thanks a lot.

first you are really going to be looking for about 20 years to find goodies in the junkyard, first you will NEVEr see a corvette in there or if it is will be rolled, trashed and the engine/trans/axle gone within 2 seconds of being in the yard, if your going threw all the effoft of making a superrammed 383 with just junkyard parts is kinda risky will all the money in it, you should just save your money and do it right the 1st time, or just rebuilt it to 355 if your budget is really tight

The V6 rear axles (and gears and axleshafts and etc) are just as strong as the V8 ones. So you should be more worried about whether the f-body axle "in general" is strong enough. If your current axle won't break, the V6 one won't either.
