Help!!!
Help!!!
I recently got sick of my 305 TBI, and decided to buy a 350. It's already bored .60 over, and has a cam and performance intake. I was thinking about stroking it just for the hell of it. Anyways, I just realized that I know next to nothing about the rear end of my car. Can the tranny and differential take that kind of power? Are there any other things I need to take into consideration before I make this switch? Any help would be appreciated.

Manual Transmission (T5)is marginal at best in my opinion. Some claim that their T5's hold up to 350-383 torque, but they're easily broken with 305's, in my experience.
Automatic (700R4) can be built to withstand
quite a bit of abuse, and even stock aren't too bad.
Rearend can be built to handle abuse, as long as you're not running slicks.Replace the crush sleeve with a solid spacer, weld axle tubes where they enter the center section, and use a rear cover/girdle to stiffen up bearing caps. After these mods, you can beat on a ten-bolt quite a bit (on the street).
Again, though, if you have a manual trans, I'd plan on upgrading that at least, before putting a high torque stroker motor in it.
The best T5's are only rated at about 280 Ft/lbs.
