Oil Leak... HELP!

Ok, so I've finished the swap... (see https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/engi...305-412-a.html)

Problem is that on initial break-in I've got a leak on the back side of the engine. I changed the oil and have run the engine (gently) and there is a small bead on the bottom of the oil filter. I dont see any from where the heads meet the block.

Any pointers on where to look? I've jacked it up, but it's hard to tell from underneath.

I want to give a helpful response, but I'm awfully tired. Maybe I can contribute something in the morning.

Re: Oil Leak... HELP!

the same thing happened to me last summer when i swapped my lg4 for a 355. the block was completely remachined and they were all new oil seals and a little bit leaked out of the rear main seal. i called the machine shop and they said to give it a few days so i did. sure enough it sealed itself up. i used synthetic mobile1 and they said that had something to do with it. are you running synthetic?

Re: Oil Leak... HELP!

I'm using Rotella-T because I was told it was one of the few oils left with zinc that helps the break-in process.

But I think I have the oil leak nailed down to the driver's side valve cover. The corner looks wet from below and and the drip appears to come from that area. Never changed the gaskets on them because they appeared to be in ok condition. I'll be changing both and then refiring to test. I cant tell for sure because the issue only happens when I'm goosing the motor and then when I climb below, I opnly see the trickle as an after-effect...
