Unusual swap please read
To start off i know yall are gonna think im crazy maybe i am. Off to the questions. I have a complete 87 camaro with a 2.8 and a automatic. I also have a 92 camaro with no motor or trans. It had a 305 tbi and a automatic when it started life. Now its a clean slate kinda. How do i unplug the wiring harness on the driverside next to the brake booster? Next, can i use the interior wiring in the 92 with the the swap im doing or do i need to redo all the wiring? The vats has been disabled so no issue there. What about wiring to the transmission? I know i need to switch out the front springs for the v6 car to the v8 car. My main issue is just that wiring. Is there anything im missing? Thanks for a quick response.

thank you i feel stupid. Fighting 1 screw. Now the harness is out entirely. I unhooked it inside the car where the 2 clear/while connectors from the engine side of the harness to the interior. (Anyone know off hand where they go? Im hopefully gonna try and take the dash out of my 87 tomorrow so i can see the wiring connections to compare them.

Another question. 87 has a cable driven spedo, whereas the 92 has a electronic speedo. Can i put a sensor in my 1987 700r4 to read to the 92 gauge or am i out of luck? Maybe if anyone has a 92 and 87 wiring diagram they could email it to me so i can check the 87 dash wiring to the 92? I want to put the dash in this afternoon but would hate to put it in then have to take it back out.

The '87 will have the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) on the back of the speedometer. The '92 had the VSS on the transmission and sent the signal to a buffer then the ECM. You can get a cable to electronic sender, which you would then have to wire into the '87 ECM.
