383 Stroker or LT1?

I am looking at my options here and wanted to get your opinion. I have a 1988 IROC-Z Camaro (L98). I am torn between straight purchasing a LT1 and doing the swap or using the existing motor and making it a 383 stroker. My goal is to increase overall HP. There are significant costs with the swap (as some of you already know) and I am trying to keep expenses down as much as possible. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.

I don't think there is a valid argument against the LT1 being the superior engine and induction/ignition system. Assuming you find a drop-out engine/trans with all harnesses and PCM that doesn't need work, it won't cost you any more than it would to stroke the 350 and upgrade the TPI to support it. The LT1 would be close to the 383 TPI in power, and would just be getting started.

Re: 383 Stroker or LT1?

What about stroking the LT1 to a 383?
