Which fuel pump do I use
Which fuel pump do I use
I have 350 tbi engine in my formula and want to put in a better fuel pump. I heard you can use a tpi fuel pump in place of the tbi pump. The question I have is the tpi pump a direct fit or will I have to do any modifications. I really do not want to rig up a pump just trying to keep the car as stock as I can.
Re: Which fuel pump do I use
Keep the TBI pump
It operates at 14psi, TPIs operate at 43psi, walbros are even higher. If you upgrade to a higher pressure pump the regulator and/or pump are more likely to fail sooner

Re: Which fuel pump do I use
i was figuring it was a typo. just as i thought i cant find any info on a tbi 350 in any 3rd gen from the factory so i was assuming they ment tpi or it is a 305.
Re: Which fuel pump do I use
Used a 307M (190lph) Walbro with my setup just fine. Bolted in even though the pump was originally for a GN. I have an 89 Astro so even though it "should" work I disclaim myself. Nothing wrong running a stock TPI pump, if you need to bump the FP to tune it later on you can do such. With lightish mods it's a way to skirt around PROM tuning although not optimal you can at least get a chance to reclaim some of the power you're losing due to lack of tune.
