Cam for an LT1 but running Carb and Dizzy ??

Just in the final stages of building up my LT1 for my '83 Camaro but to this point have overlooked the Cam.

Was originally going to leave it and do it as a "side project" later on but I've been delayed, now, so am considering doing it now.

There's loads of recommendations for cams for Injected LT1s but does it make a difference if the motors running a Carb (GM intake) and HEI dizzy?

I've got uprated valvesprings and roller-rockers already, stock bottom-end (at the moment) and I'm running Dougs long-tube headers and a open system.
It's a manual (T56) with RAM clutch and Aluminum Flywheel (if that makes any difference ???)

Any suggestions would be appreciated . . . . Camshafts remain a dark-art to me, no matter how much reading I do on them.

Any porting work to the heads? What axle ratio? Smooth, medium or nasty idle desired? Daily driver, weekend toy, or track only? If daily, city, highway, or both? Any particular car you want to beat? You gotta give us some guidelines.

No porting as yet but certainly on the cards - stock bottom end.
Axle is 3.73, LSD.
Medium idle . . maybe a bit more.
Weekend toy / strip during the summer.

Not bothered at all about economy / killing the environment.

No particular targets - just want as much as I can get out of the motor now but also something that would also work if I did a mild bit of porting / bottom end work in the future.

Forgot to add - the carb's an Edelbrock 4BBL (manual choke) but the plan has always been to keep it just to get it running then upgrade when I do the cam.

1.6 ratio roller rockers, comp cam beehive springs.

Yours is an ideal combo for the GMPP HOT cam. You might want something more aggressive, but you'd be past the point of diminishing returns.

yep, that's the one. As to the lifters, that depends on the condition of what you have. You can get new GM lifters for $110/set

There's nothing apparently wrong with the lifters I've got - was just venturing the idea.

Thanks for the help - much appreciated.

Now I've just got to find the $$$ and go shopping.
