New guy with freshly swapped TA
Well I've been searching this site pretty heavily for the last couple weeks so I figured I may as well join up now that my car is up and running after the swap.
My name is Chris, I'm a trained and fully certified GM Technician turned GM parts guy. I've had my '84 Trans Am since 2003. It was given to my parents after it had been sitting several years and I got it running my senior year in high school auto class. My parents then gave it to me when I graduated. It took me to college for a while until it's original 305 engine gave out.
Long story short - I just swapped in a 350 out of an '86 Suburban, which is the second engine I've put in it. After the original engine went out I swapped in another 305 that was supposedly freshly rebuilt, that 305 didn't last long either. I covered it up and it had been sitting nearly 5 years until last month as I've been busy working on my other toy, a 1969 Chevy C10 with a 383 stroker.
I got the TA up and running last week after a new in tank fuel pump and new front calipers since one was seized and then took it for it's maiden voyage Friday night. I had forgotten how much I missed this car! I giggled for miles on it's first drive and it still makes me smile when I step outside and see it sitting there. I'm workin out a few bugs and need to change all the fluids but otherwise I'm happy as can be. It really needs a paint job which I'm trying to figure out how to get done but it's running great so I'm not too worried about looks yet. I intend to drive the heck out of it for a while. This place seems really knowledgeable so I'm sure I'll need some questions answered eventually, hopefully I can answer some along the way. I'll try to get some pics posted tonight.
EDIT: here's a lousy pic of my TA

And my 69 C10:

Btw, if you're trying to figure out my username it's from my 2007 Cobalt SS/SuperCharged.

It's my very fun regular daily driver which is parked until I quit driving the TA everyday, which may be a while!
