BBC heads with raised exhaust ports+ Hooker 2226

swap headers

Anybody have interference issues?(steering column, lower control arm, lower firewall etc?)

Im looking to get heads with raised exhaust ports for my BBC and was wondering what to expect.

If you have tried it, please mention if youre using the BBC or SBC mounts.

Yes. The swap headers are designed for stock heads. As soon as you use raised port heads, clearances change. Expect to do some modifications. I had to notch the underside of the front frame rails to get mine to fit.

Yep, there will be some "clearencing" needed. My tall deck 427 required some massage' to get the 2226's to fit, but they fit. I've since changed to a standard 9.8 deck with a tubular K-member and solid BBC mount's and reused the 2226's and still had to refit (read 'hammer')those damn headers. I'll continue to use these until I have Dan Lemon make me some.

Re: BBC heads with raised exhaust ports+ Hooker 2226

Even my Ed Quay headers needed modifications (big hammer) to make them fit. That was mainly because of the 2-1/4" primary tubes trying to fit around suspension components with raised port heads and a lowered engine.

If you want perfect fitting headers, the best option is to build a set specifically for your own car.

Re: BBC heads with raised exhaust ports+ Hooker 2226

Ive done most of what all of you mentioned before with my 781 heads. What I was asking for is if there's any additional "clearancing" that I need with using raised ports compared to the raised ports.I didnt have to dent my 2226's before but I did have to cut the SFC short..argh

I dont think it will be easier with the vert
