305head w/ 350 block
I have the z28 with the flowmasters and carb. 305 and I'm potentially going to buy a 350 block today... I was just wondering what the potential problems I will run into when I do the swap and what parts should I buy in advance when I do this swap? will it effect the motor mounts at all?
I'm going to get S/Ns and what not today hopefully I can post those up later? I'm trying to go for about 400+ish horsepower later on and I just need to know if I keep the 305 heads will I be able to reach that?
kinda new to the chevy stuff

Chances are your 305 is the base "LG4" engine (8th character of the VIN = "H"). Step one is to replace all of the exhaust. And, you'll probably need a better air cleaner than the car has now.
305 heads can support that kind of power, but plan on having 1.94" intake valves installed, and it would probably be helpful to install 1.60" exhaust valves. Basic port & bowl clean-up should be considered mandatory.
Motor mounts will not be affect.
Casting #'s are more useful than serial numbers.

Re: 305head w/ 350 block
I say go for it dude!!!
I was gonna do the same thing with 58cc World S/R 305 heads on my 350. (They come with 1.94"/1.50" valves and 170cc intake ports, went aluminum cause I had the opportunity....)
You'll raise the compression ratio which is good... I did the calcuations on here somewhere...
You "might" need to run higher octane, but you can do things to prevent that... Watch you're "Quench" area.
You'll wanna clean up those heads like five7kid said and the porting and polishng can get addictive.
Have fun with it!!!!
By the way, What kinda cam will the block have in it?
