New to site advice on 91RS
I am new to the site. Ive been reading on this site for about a week now and decided its time for my first post. This is not my first project, but is my first Camaro, so i would like for any input or advice i can get. Thanx
I recently bought a 91 RS for $500. The car is in fair condition but does not have a motor or trans. The car was a V6 from the factory. My plan is to finish restoring the interior and exterior of the car while i decide which route i will take as far as motor/trans. My goal is a very clean/restored weekend cruiser with enough power just to have a little fun (300-400hp range).
Ive read the stickies on V6 to V8 swap and i dont see that being a problem since im starting from no drivetrain. Ive also read the debates against EFI vs Carb.
Since im only using the car as a weekend cruiser im looking for 350 or 383 in my power goal. Gas mileage is not very important...also im buying all new, so no junk yard/donor swaps. Just want to get yalls opinions on any setups you have experienced that applies to my case.
BTW..great site with alot of great information
thanks

Re: New to site advice on 91RS
welcome aboard.
what you're looking to spend and your abilities will play a lot into what people will recommend. A lot of guys (myself included) like the LSx swap route for its power, fuel economy, and drivability, but its more involved than you standard sbc swap.
used engines with some good machining can be better and cheaper than buy new too, no need to discount that option
