a few questions for my first swap please help

hi i have an 85 camaro and i recently started an engine swap because i bloew the old 305. next summer i will be dropping in a 350 rebuilt from a 3rd gen camaro, after of course i restore the engine bay and paint the engine. my questions are 1. i removed the engine and not the transmission, when im installing the new one what is th ebest way to go about it because og the spline shaft the comes from the transmission. and one more question. im not sure if it on this site already i am pretty new to it. but when i drop the new one in is there some sort of diagram or walkthrough on where each hose and line go? thanks in advance

i would suggest pulling the trans with the motor, much easier process. I also found it alot easier to just take the 2 bolts out of the torque arm from the rear and slide it out rather then mess with the clamshell on the trans, just my 2 cents though

It helps if you use little strips of blue painters tape or masking tape to label all hoses and connections/wires before you seperate them. That way you can just label them 1,2,3,4 and so on.When it goes back together just put 1 to 1,2 to 2 and so on.It would also help if you bought a service manual for your car.

After quite a few swaps I usually don't need to label everything, only some stuff every once in a while.
