Wanted: details for swapping a 3.1 v6 EFI with for carb 350
Wanted: details for swapping a 3.1 v6 EFI with for carb 350
I have read a lot of this forums pros and cons on doing an engine swap. That being said, I still plan on changing to the 350. My questions are:
Can you use the v6 auto tranny on the v8 if you change the bell housing? I am looking at the absolute minimum amount of changing that can be done and still have everything work. All advice welcaome.
Thanks,
Dave

My v6 - 383 carb swap
Must have missed this one through your searches

To answer your question about tranny, No
Need New or used
-motor mounts, clamshells
-front brake lines relocated (mise well change them
-v8 suspension ( completely optional if its just a daily driver )
- Fuel pressure regulator ( all AN fittings add up, be prepared to spend $200 if not more for this )
- Possibly new radiator and fans, not sure if the little v6 can handle cooling the 350, when i took mine out if was small
- Transmission
- wire connectors, maybe switches depending how you will tap into the fuel pump, its computer controlled and will not work unless you put it on a switch or tap into your ignition wires
Believe me, price does add up, dont think its just a simple swap, all those small parts and big parts will cost a few hundred if not close to 1g
