Swapping '98 RWD L36 (3800 from a Bird) into my '88 manual Bird.

Hello all. I've posted a similar thread before about swapping in a 3800 but that was a while ago. I have a manual '88 Bird with a bad 2.8 V6. I found a good 3800 in a 1998 Firebird in the junkyard that I plan to put in it (funny that I didn't know that longitudinal L36 existed before I found it). My question is, what do I need to do to get it to bolt up to my 88's T5? Someone told me that the 98's flywheel is a bit too thick and needs to be machined down to about 0.840" or so. Is this true? Am I missing anything?

Thanks.

just as an early warning, the 3800 is not a direct bolt in, there are no direct swap motor mounts to get that into a 3rd gen

Ah I see you're involved with 1A, cool. Some of those youtube videos have been quite helpful.

So you're saying that I'd have to fabricate motor mounts? Not a problem. Is that pretty much the only issue?

the clutch side of things i'm unfamiliar with unfortunately. i had contemplated giving a 3.8 swap a go some time ago, but didn't have the fab capabilities at the time, so abandoned the idea early on.

....then i got the crazy idea to do an LSx swap and watched my wallet get thin....
