Whenever aftermarket parts are used, it should always be balanced. Unless the pistons, pins, rods and rings are the exact same weight as what came off, the balance will be different.

My last balance required a lot of metal to be removed from the crank. Took my balancer a day to get it balanced right down to zero on the planes. Still cost me $800. How much it costs depends on what work needs to be done.

$500.00-$800.00 to balance an engine is insane unless heavy metal needs to be installed.

You can balance pistons yourself with a gram scale, I used one at a friends body shop, weigh the pistons & mark each one's weight, then just make the 7 heavier pistons weigh the same as the lightest, its that simple. Anything within 1 gram is better than most shops will do.

Then take your parts to your favorite machine shop, shouldn't cost more than about $250.00, at least thats what it is around Sacranento CA.
