383 or 350 H.O. ??
So just to start off my goals for my car
-I would like to get around 300-330hp to the wheels "I wana beat my friends 1994 firebird with ad lt1
"
-350+lbs torque
-like to see 15 mpg in city or more haha
-and trying to keep the engine around $4,000
-and keeping it tpi
- going to be my daliy driver just want it to be a nice fun ride and be able to beat other cars on the road
when needed
so IM going to be keeping th tpi bc i dont want to have to change out every thing going to carb so i was thinking ether a 383 or keep a 350 the 383 im looking at it this one from summit http://www.summitracing.com/parts/MLL-BP3834CT1
i liike the numbers that it shows and I like the torque
it gives
my quetion is will the 383 be good for my goals ?will the tpis mini ram http://www.tpis.com/parts/view/34
be good ? and will the 2055 1hkr hooker heads with the 3in manga flow cat back work with this 383?and if not the 383 the 350 im looking at is the 350 H.O.
http://www.crateenginedepot.com/350-...007-P9417.aspx
the 383 doesnt cost much more then the 350 but the 383 has way better numbers. I will prbly use the mini ram on the 350 aswell and get a 52mm tb for the 350 and or the 383.
any opinions or welcome if you have a nother crate you wana show me or other parts you think would work better for my goals would love to hear any thing y'all have to say it thx!! im a newb

Re: 383 or 350 H.O. ??
Well if you're looking for that kind of power it'll be tough to pull off with stock TPI runners, a 350 miniram is a good choice and should be able to get you over 300rwhp, however not like the tpi. The miniram pulls higher rpms, similar to the LT1 intake so you will need a decent cam to go along with this. Otherwise a 383 tpi/miniram would also do the job for those goals. As far as exhaust I would go with something that has a little larger primary tube for those numbers. The 2055 headers only have a 1 5/8 primary tube, I would look into something like the hooker supercomp 2210 headers if you're interested in longtubes, or dyno don makes a pretty solid 1 3/4 inch primary header. If you've already got the L98 350 like your name says, don't bother with the 350 H.O. crate motor. Just mod a little bit you'll get your goal. Hope this helps, but do your research and ask questions when necessary before you spend your money!

Re: 383 or 350 H.O. ??
so what cam size and runners would you recommend? and i would like to get shorty headers bc i hear its cost alot more to put on long tube and u bottom out on them alot so i've heard "i bottoms out alot as is haha".and yes i have a L98 but i blow a head gasket and that engine has like 160k miles on it so i would prbly have to get it rebuilt any way and for how much that cost i can just buy a crate. and ya i have been reseaching for a long time now but bc i dont know what im reading its hard for me to under stand. would the magna flow 3in catback still be good with the 383?part # 16829?
