305 TBI to 350 TBI CA Smog Question
Hello Everyone I recently did the above swap and I am wondering if this will pass smog here in CA. The engine is a 91 350 TBI from a Truck or Van I beleive. I am using all the original smog equipment from the 305. The only thing I am missing or not using is the metal pipe( not sure what the name is) that goes from the side of the cat to the smog pump. I did not know about all the paperwork to get it certified correctly until after i did the swap. So if anyone knows or has suggestions please let me know.
If the 350 is a 91 and my 305 was an 89 would it run cleaner? Also the 350 has about 80,000 miles... or less...
Thanks.

If you get all of the equipment from a 1991 B-body 350 and put it in/on your car, you won't have any problem getting it through the motor change process.
I've heard that light truck engines/systems can be swapped into passenger cars now (as long as the engine/system is the same year or newer than the chassis), but you're better off asking your local "motor change" referee that question.
I'm not completely familiar with the light truck emissions systems, but they may not have used the A.I.R. tube to the cat (is that why you don't have that tube?). If not, and indeed you can swap in a light truck engine/system, then you'll probably be okay. If they did have that tube, then you are going to need to get it installed.
But, getting everything off of a '91 B-body would be the sure way.
