Picked up this 87 firebird, used to have a 2.8 V6, previous owner converted to a carb V8 and 700R4, but speedo doesen't work !!! Started tracing wires after reading here, at the tranny is the speed sensor with 2 wires yellow & purple, they are butt connected to harness wires which are same color, the wires travel to the yellow buffer box under passenger panel, then a green wire goes to guage. When I step on the gas, speedo pegs out to max, when I stop it goes to 0. Questions are is the gauge bad ? is the sensor bad or sending wrong signal ? Need some help here !
