305 TBI to 350 TBI questions
i am looking to replace my stock 305 t.b.i with a 86 350 tbi in my 19 camaro but i was going to switch it over to a carb and run a cam, do i have to change heads? i wanting 300 horse or around that with a 350 give me some options that are top end only, no crank or pistons. not wanting to go that far.

and also if i decide to keep tbi can i run a cam and put new intake on? or will i have to get a new computer? or just reprogram?

No, you don't have to change the heads. But, TBI heads have "issues". They are "swirl port" type heads, designed for economy and emissions, not power. They flow great on the exhaust side, but poorly on the intake side - and there's nothing you can do about it. Porting doesn't help. Any cam with over .450" lift at the valve will be a waste, because flow doesn't improve over that lift. 300 gross HP at the flywheel is possible, but if you were thinking 300 HP at the wheels, not as likely.
On the TBI forum is a sticky in the top section about a budget 350 TBI swap. I suggest you go to that forum and read it through. It really covers all the bases.
Oh, you said, "86 350 tbi". I don't believe there was a factory TBI engine in 1986. TPI, yes, but not TBI.
