Starter fitting questions

Ok so I have my starter from my automatic transmission, that came off the old style flex plate (I cant remember the tooth count)

Will it fit on the flywheel from my 84 camaro's t5?

Re: Starter fitting questions

Depends on the tooth count.

An easy way is to look at the starter bolts, if they are straigt across its for the 153 tooth, if they are angled its for a 168 tooth.

Your T-5 flywheel should be a 153 tooth.

If I recall correctly (and I've never had a T5 car), the T5 starter nose is different from the auto tranny starter nose. The T5 starter will fit auto, but not the other way around.

Unless the starter has been replaced sometime in the past (high likelihood) with one that will also fit a T5 (not as likely).

Re: Starter fitting questions

Does your mini starter have 2 sets of mounting holes? If so it will work for either tooth count.
