Parts dilemma
Well... I have my LS1 waiting for me, looking for the rest of the drive line.
LS1 T56 here aren't easy to find, especially for under $2000. I found one for 2G. I've been looking for the last 6 months and this is the first one I've come across in Ontario.
Built rear ends are even harder to find, but I found a Moser 12 bolt, direct bolt in with 3rd gen width with discs on it, under 1000km of use for $1500.
Getting big parts like these sent here is costly... a $3000 rear end to you guys in the states is more like $4000 here with shiping, duties, taxes etc.
I don't want to get the car set up with the stock rear end, and have it implode on me when I lay in it to kill some rice, which will happen. Couldn't really enjoy the car always worried about the rear end blowing apart each time I have some fun.
I can only afford one of these at the time, and really not sure what to get. The T56 is an LS1 with 146,000km on it (about 90,000mi).
What direction would you guys go in? Goal is to have the car on the road next summer so I can enjoy it before I start throwing some power parts at it. Was going to just use a 4th gen rear as it will hold up fine behind a stock LS1 (I hope)
It really sucks to look and look and look and not see anything for months and then to all of a sudden find two of the most expensive parts right away.
My only real hope would be that someone wouldn't need that rear end, buy the transmission as it's more likely to be sold easier and prey that the rear end doesn't get picked up before I can afford it.

Re: Parts dilemma
I've been lurking for nearly 7 years...but this is a good first post.
I'm currently parting out my LS6'd CTS-V. Need driveline parts? I've still got the complete drivetrain. It's got 77k on the LS6 and the T56. The shifter has good firm bushings and shifts great. I've also got a brand new (installed for less than a mile) LS7 clutch and flywheel as well.
