Running LT1 with TPI harness and L98 ecm?

Has anyone done this? Get rid of opti, install a distributor into the LT1 intake and ran the motor with a stock TPI harness and ECM? Possibly run all factory accessories up front too.

Should work fine as long as you run a distributor. Or convert to ls1 ecm by integrating efi connection 24x ring and cover. May need cam sensor distributor still or maybe use their lt1 timing cover with both sensors integrated into it

Re: Running LT1 with TPI harness and L98 ecm?

Im running my 383 LT1 off stock '92 harness and 7730 ecm.(running code $59 for boost w/ 3 bar map) I have a MSD pro billet dis. back there. So really no diff. then a stock setup but a LT1

as Orr said. Id just go 24x with the LSx pcm. (thats what I want to do now. Just need to make a harness and get a 411 pcm. and a diss for the cam syn.)

with the Old Novi2000

working on the TC78 setup.

FACTORY L98 access. wont work because of the way the WP setup is. Its in the way. Just run all the LT1 stuff.

So you can run a stock lt1 with a l98 ecm? What about a timing tab?

Could use timing tape and make a wire pointer on block if the lt1 cover doesnt have a timing mark.

Yep... I did this to a corvette... put a LT1 engine in with old TPI Computer... custom chip Modded the intake to accept a dizzy... blocked off the hole in the front cover where the Opti was.... Wasn't exactly plug and play but it worked. Get's good MPG and is better than a sbc....
It's a harder way to go than just doing a LS swap unless you have all the stuff just laying around not going to cost you much.
Good luck!
