engine swaps and fuel pumps
Is using a v6 MPFI fuel pump on a TPI car unacceptable?
What about the opposite? A TPI fuel pump on a 2.8?

bump. will a 2.8 pump run a tpi? I've heard they are the same pump. Just looking for some documentation that shows the PSI for each

The MPFI and TPI pumps were different from the factory, but some aftermarketers used the TPI pump for MPFI application to reduce inventory - the production cost difference wasn't sufficient to make up the difference in increased inventory costs.
So, a factory or replacement TPI pump will supply MPFI just fine, but a pump that only meets the factory MPFI requirements will not properly supply a TPI engine.

Re: engine swaps and fuel pumps
thanks. Now I wish I hadn't bought the v6 pump, but the idea of an engine swap that was actually tempting for me just fell into my lap over the weekend
I guess I'll have a NOS delco pump to sell to some v6 guy...
