Like this 350 vortec build??

I think I got my set up now. Here's what I plan on doing. I have a 91 camaro rs with a 5 speed and 3.08 gears. I have a L05 roller motor and plan on building on it. I'm going to get Vortec heads and port them out. Then I'm going to use a zz4 roller cam and rockers with roller tips. I plan keeping it TBI, so I plan on using a 454 throttle body with a eldebrock vortec intake. Should create somewhere around 350 hp.. What do you guys think? Keep in mind this is a daily driver.

Sounds like you have a good plan.

For the heads I would just clean up the intake castings a bit and not port them much. They already flow well enough for 350 stock. I would install 1.6 exhaust valves and clean the exhaust ports a bit because they are the weak side of vortec heads.

We don't on plan porting it much. Just enough to give it just a little extra juice

With Vortec heads, do not TOUCH the intake side, except to clean up the weird angles where the factory jammed their cutter down into the bowl; and any similar deformities around the guide or casting irregularities. DO NOT alter the roof or the shape of the port, it is well optimized as-cast.

As said, exh side is a different matter; no different from the same sucky exh port on all stock SBC heads. Do the usual to it, but don't go hog wild; there's not all that much metal there to begin with.
