406 Sb Roller Cam Selection
I am currently in the process of researching and buying parts for a 406 small block for my 87 IROC. My father and I plan on putting the motor together and in the car during the summer. I'll be posting a lot of questions on here about this build. Anyways, I need help selecting a cam for it. I plan to buy a retrofit hydraulic roller cam, and I would like this motor to make 500+ hp at the crank. Hopefully that's not asking for a lot. Here's a list of the parts I have so far:
-1976 400 block: .030 over, splayed (4 bolt)
-Scat 4340 Forged Crankshaft
-Scat Forged Pro-comp I-Beam 6" Rods
-SRP Forged Aluminum -16cc dish Pistons
-Clevite H-Series Crank, Cam, and Rod Bearings
-AFR 220cc Aluminum heads:65cc chamber
-10.1:1 Compression Ratio
-Holley Strip Dominator Intake
-SFI Harmonic balancer & Flexplate
-COMP cams Ultra Pro Magnum 1.52 Roller Rockers
-COMP cams hydraulic short-travel retrofit lifters
I plan to make it a ralleycross/street car. I know there's a lot to consider when selecting a cam, but this is my first ever engine build, so I don't know too much about cams. Any and all help is appreciated, as always.

You opposed to a custom grind? Or you want a shelf offered cam?
If you are doing a hyd roller you will want to get the afr 8019 springs.
I would go with something around 242/248 to 248/252 duration at .050". Somewhere in there would make fantastic power on those heads. Anywhere in the 110 lsa range.

Re: 406 Sb Roller Cam Selection
I never really thought of getting a custom grind cam, i figured buying an off-the-shelf cam would be good enough. Price is not really an issue because i have a good budget, but i don't want to spend crazy money for things at the same time. How much do they usually run? I'm definitely open to ideas

Similar in price sometimes more for billet cores. There are many guys out there.
Lunati voodoo 20120713 would be awesome for a shelf grind for that motor
