Ok I finally got all my stuff together. I bought a 5.3 out of an 04 box van with the 4L80E for $650. I also bought a twin turbo kit new in the box with everything I'll need for $200 from an overstock sale. I'm buying the LS engine mounts. I put my 5.7 tpi and 700R4 on CL for $700. Now is where I'm stuck. I have this motor with all the wires cut off at the firewall. All my sensors are in place and intact. What kind of stand alone computer should I get? Do I need a different fuel pump/tank? What kind of modifications will I need to do to fit the tranny? I just need some advice before I get the cherry picker out and drop a motor in. Any suggestions would be very appreciated.

 

Personally, I wouldn't sell the original motor or trans.

Buuut on to your questions.
You can and should use the stock 5.3 ECM and wiring harness to control the engine and trans.
Trans cross member for that are all over the net.
4th gen tank is a popular swap but the 3rdgen tank will work and you won't have to mess w the sending unit to get it to work right.

 

So I should probably find a 4th gen at a junkyard. The V6 tanks are probably the same as the 5.7 am I right. The fuel pump is probably different but fit in the same hole? I'll have some research to do on that if I can't find a 4th gen formula or T/A at a salvage yard. Usually as soon as those hit a salvage yard they're stripped pretty quick. Any more advice is well appreciated. Things I haven't even thought of that I'll need before I start in on this project. It's probably going to be a nightmare so any help is appreciated.
