Anyone here know a shop in or near Dallas Texas that will charge honest price for an engine swap? Thinking about putting a 350 vortec long block in my 1988 Camaro sports coupe. I'm a noob when it comes to these kinds of things so I do apologize. I'm also on a budget, so price ranges would be helpful guys. Just want to get it to be my daily driver. Thanks

 

What's wrong with the engine that's already in the car?

There's a ton of variables with what you want to do, depending on the platform and what you want out of it. If you plan to DD it, sometimes a V8 isn't always the best... especially the older ones. Sometimes it works well.

I personally don't know of any shops around here that do this kind of swap for anything approaching a reasonable price... especially if you are upgrading from a v6. If going from 305 to 350, that's a cakewalk usually.

 

If your engine will have Vortec heads, you will need to deal with the manifold, as the manifold you have now (non-Vortec) will not bolt on. Here are some port injections choices... You can use the Google to find a TBI/vortec intake.

Edelbrock
Used to be Holley Stealth Ram, now Weiand. You need fuel rails and AFPR.
Or Edelbrock Pro Flo... need fuel rails and LS style TB.
FAST/RHS carb stlye
