3400 swap questions
3400 swap questions
Hi I have a 2001 grand am 3.4L. I have changed the front timing cover and Water pump and pulleys to 95 Camaro. Now that I have flipped the intake 180 degrees. Which way should the fuel rails go?it seems that they must face the same way as the thermostat housing (inlet and outlet front of block). But will the connectors have to be changed around so each injector is firing when it is supposed to? I am keeping the obd2 computer and tuning it with hp tuners.
Also I tried bolting up my th350 with the speedway adapter but using the grand am flex plate there is a huge gap between the converter and flex plate. So this morning I ordered a flex plate from a 88-95 v6 Camaro ( p/n ATP Z 212). Now I am reading that I should have ordered an s10 2.2l flex plate because of the starter. Did i order the wrong one?
Looking at a member on here (mars061) he shows what looks to be the Camaro flex plate so I ordered it
Any help is greatly appreciated

Re: 3400 swap questions
Post this in the v6 section and you'll get alot more responses. Since you are swapping out a FWD 60 degree v6, alot of it is make it work. So fuel lines will be different. Are you putting it in a 3rd gen camaro or a 93+ camaro? If so the third gen, the fuel lines on the camaro will have to be adapted to connect to the quick connect fittings of the fwd v6s. if you are keeping the ob2 system you shouldn't have to change the injector connectors. making a obd2 ecm work in these cars will be a little more difficult just because there is more electronics that go along with them. Such as I don't think it will work with a th350 trans but it could probably work with a v6 4l60e trans. with the adapter plate you will definately have to get a thicker flexplate and I think that that a s10 or chevy 2.2 4 cylinder flexplate will work.

Re: 3400 swap questions
Get the 3.4L short-block assembly from a '93-'95 Camaro, you can use a 2.2L S-10 torque converter, use 3500 heads and the 3400 everything else. I'm daily-driving a '94 Camaro with a 3.4 and a 4L60E, I've had it a year now and it has never run right, seldom fires on all 6, it's the dang OBD1.5. I considered the 3500 heads plus a cam, a turbo, and the 3400 intake, but for less money I can do a turbo 4.8L LSx, since I already have the 4.8.
