Iron Duke to 383 stroker
Im new to the site and am not sure how to go about this. I recently bought my first 3rd Gen Camaro. Bought a 1984 Camaro which originally had the 4 cyclinder "Iron Duke" in it but the previous owner had swapped it out for a carb'd 383 stroker. The car itself was in great condition with minimal rust and the interior is damn near flawless. Couldn't pass it up for the price of the paid. Plus I've been looking for a decent project car me and my son can start working on. It also came with a 700r4 tranny and 3:73 rear end. Figured I got a lot of car for what I paid.
Only only thing I'm worried about is when I look under the hood there are wires everywhere and none of it seems to lead anywhere. Also noticed none of my gauges work. Just wondering if anyone has heard of a swap like this and what the pros and cons of it are. Hoping I didn't buy myself a nightmare. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

Don't worry a lot of idiots like to hack up these cars usually ina EFI to carb mod.
The good news is most of the gauges are easy to hook up. Temp, oil pressure are just one wire. The speedo should be cable driven check that unless the PO installed a later year 700R4 with an electronic output. The tach will probably need to be modified the 4 cylinder uses a different onboard resistor but that is a fairly ez mod.
IIRC the temp gauge is a dark green wire and oil is brown.
Wiring diagrams are here.

Your 700R4 is also probably missing the converter lock up thanks to the computer delete.
Finally the 3.73 could be factory as it was a 4cyl option
