84 Camaro V6 to V8 questions.

Recently purchased a 1984 Camaro that originally had the 2.8L V6 in it but the PO swapped it out for a carb'd 383 sbc. Also has a 700R4 tranny with a shift kit. ( Not sure what that means) Let's just say it was a very hacked up swap and by the looks of it he tried keeping it emissions friendly utilizing the factory V6 Ecm and harness. None of the gauges even work. The car itself is in excellent shape and I would like to restore it and clean up the engine bay (remove blower motor/ AC box and delete ECM)
I've read a few threads on doing an ECM delete on an 84 and from what I understood it seems like all I'd have to do is get a torque converter lock up switch for the tranny? Didn't sound like I'd have any issues with fuel pump or pressure? All the wires for the gauges, lights, blinkers, and wipers are on the chassis harness, correct?
This will be my first restoration attempt on anything and would like to get everything straight before I go hacking it up any more than what it is. Thanks
