New engine swapper.

Hello. I recently got an 89 Camaro Rs with the 305 V8. I want a 350 or bigger. I have a 1999 5.7 vortec out of a suburban. Now I had a plan to just build off the bare block. I have stripped the block down to what I have the capability to take off. Which is pretty much everything but the cam bearings. This should work if I'm not mistaken since I'm not using the actual complete engine. Am I mistaken? Sorry if this doesn't make sense.

Re: New engine swapper.

The the block out of the suburban will directly swap into the 89. If you want to use the vortec heads that came on that block you will need to source a vortec intake to go along with them.

Im not using the vortec stuff. Just the block. I'm still learning so I'd figure I'd ask.

Too bad... the block is pretty ordinary, but those heads would make your new motor RUN HARD.

Any possibility you can go back to the buzzard and see if the heads are still in his nest?

I stripped the block myself. So I still have all of the pieces. The guy I bought said the head gasket was blown but looking at the gaskets I'm not sure. Could be a cracked head but I haven't looked.
