84 firebird
I need to change my engine. It died. The 305 locked up. Carburator isn't the right one and that may have been the cause. I have a 305 out of a 89 fb. The dash wiring won't let me drop it in as is. Need options

Re: 84 firebird
The 305 should essentially be the same once you swap all the accessories like the intake manifold, alternator, water pump, exhaust manifold and all those things. What is holding you up?

Intake manifold bolt holes are drilled at a different angle I read. Other than that I need a new carburator. Will a edelbroc fit the stock intake. Most have electric choke. How does that play out?

Re: 84 firebird
Easiest thing usually is to look at everything that's different between the motor you have and the motor you want to put in; take everything that's different off of the one you have; and put ithe stuff from the one you already have onto the one you want to put in. Usually by the time you get down to the end of that, the things that are incompatible, are minimized, and MUCH easier to identify and deal with, than "how do I put this motor that has all this different stuff on it into my car", and demanding that the Internet spoon-feed you all the details for whatever exact combination you might happen to have.
I'm well aware that this is a foreign concept to humans in general, but it's known as "logic". You're smart enough to step up to that superior plane of existence if you want.

Re: 84 firebird
Expensive and not currently in stock, but this intake manifold would work on the new engine...

Modifying the original intake would probably be more cost effective...

Thank you. I think I will just try to find a stock carb and go!
