LS Swap With BMR Tubular K-Member Intake Manifold Clearance

Hello, been working on getting a 5.3 ls engine (L33) into my 1989 Firebird, and have been trying to research what intake manifold I should use since I have been told the truck intake manifold is too tall and hits the hood. The only info I have seen is that the ls1/ls6/ls2 intake will work with the swap, but I am going to be using a BMR K-Member instead of the stock one so I wanted to see if there was anyone with the same k member that would know the clearance the engine has when its installed, so I know which manifolds will work and which won't.

Thanks for the help,

DeltaPi

BMR sits very tall in my car. Not a prayer with truck intake.

Thanks, do you know the clearance measurement in your car from the engine to the hood or at least the height of the intake you are currently using?

I've got a BMR k member in my car with an iron block 6.0L the k member has integrated motor mounts. I've got a BTR Trinity intake manifold with 1/2" spacers and it clears just fine with about 1.75" of clearance. I've got hood vents on my car so I can just look right in there and see everything.

I would think a BTR equalizer intake would fit no problem, an LS1/6 should also be good

right on the website:- Underslung plenum design for maximum hood clearance

-102mm profiled throttle bore

- 1 MAP sensor location in rear with 2 additional optional locations

- Additional user defined LS3 and LS1/LS2/LS6 MAP sensor bores

- ISO9001:2015 certified machining

- 2-piece design for easy porting access

- Lightweight CAD-generated design

- Profiled port openings for optimum out of the box performance

- All threads are roll form aircraft standard DSDV

- Clears F-Body cowls

- Clears C5 cowls with minimal massaging to intake

- Does NOT work with truck accessories

Re: LS Swap With BMR Tubular K-Member Intake Manifold Clearance

Thanks for the help guys, I'll be on the lookout for a ls1 or ls6 since its in my price range. If I cant go with that I was thinking of trying to make a custom itb setup from some old smaller throttle bodies.
