LT1 into LO3 fuel pump ??
LT1 into LO3 fuel pump ??
Been away from the board since i put the car away in August, but I have a question about my upcoming LT1 swap. I remember reading a while ago the pump flow numbers on my LO3 fuel pump compared to the pump flow numbers for an LT1. I can't remember the exact figures, but if memory serves, the LO3 pump isn't gonna cut it. Where can I get an adequate fuel pump that will fit in my tank? I guess what I really want to know is if I get the fuel pump from the donor car will it fit and work for me?
Thanks...any input is appreciated.

The pump from the donor car will work for this. If its a ta or camaro those pumps are supposed to be good up to about 400 flywheel hp.
If you get the sending unit and fuel lines also you will be ahead of the game(because you wont have to fab custom ones)
If you want to go with an aftermarket You could go with a Walbaro 255 . Thats what I have it will support 550hp and costs about 140 dollars through jegs and summit. It replaces the stock pump in the tank.
Hope this helps.

if you'r looking to replace it, go with the walbro.

<qoute><b>is the TPI fuel pump different than the LT1 pump??</b></quote>
mat can correct me if i'm wrong but the TPI pump is just the name brand pump. (the company is called TPI). any electric pump will make your LT1 run, the problem is that it needs to create enough pressure to run right and generate enough power. the reason i suggested the walbro is that it has a good reputation on the board and if you order the holley one from summit, it will have a stamp 'made by walbro'. the pump matt suggested is definatly cheaper, though i don't know the quality. i have read too many posts about how someone put in a cheap pump and ended up changing it again after a couple of months. check with others to wee the quality of the TPI pump and make your own decission.

Thanks for clearing that up. Now that I think about it, I have heard of the company TPI. I just misunderstood and thought he was talking about the fuel pump from a camaro w/ TPI engine. I think my L03 has an electric fuel pump (correct me if i'm wrong) but it's not adequate to feed the LT1.
Thanks again! keep the posts coming

a stock lt1 f-body pump or a walbro would be your best choice.
I don't know if you have ever removed a tank before. Its not fun. I am of the opinion that one is enough. I got a walbro because I didn't want to do it again any time soon.
I would buy a good pump the first time, double check all connections, and forget about it.
but that me.

what I meant is a Tuned Port injection , a TPI pump would work well because that's what I'm using ! it can supply up to 62 psi witch is fine to fuel up a 450 hp engine. Just go to any parts store and ask for a 1992 camaro TPI fuel pump
