If I had the bucks, I'd go for the EFI mill due to the improved drivability. But on my budget, I don't think carburetion gives up that much. My opinion is that a carbed mill would offer more "bang for the buck". Just my .02 worth!

TPI less reliable?? No way. A TPI engine will be 10 times more reliable than the carb. Yes a carb will give you more bang for the buck but you will be giving up the broader powerband of the EFI to the few extra peak hp's that the carb will give you. Really I think that TBI is the best way to go because all it is is a fuel-injected carb and it's so simple to setup and tune. But really all three systems are fairly equal and it all comes down to cost and preference.

I think the whole thing comes down to cost and preference, and nothing else. I have a carbed car that gets excellent mileage, and I havent had a single problem with it in the 10 years its been on my car. I would say that anyone who says a carb cant get good mileage or is unreliable doesnt know what they are talking about. I would also say that anyone who says EFI is unreliable or doesnt get good mileage doesnt know what they are talking about either. I think the power differences between the two is negligible from a decision standpoint, more important is cost, and second is preference.

I would gladly go to a carb except for one thing. I live in Wisconsin and I often drive in the cold, not in winter but fall and spring can be cool too. My experiences with carbs are that they have a harder time starting in the morning when it's cool outside. I wouldn't know about gas mileage in a carb (I had an 84' Chevy 4X4 with dual 4 brls. ) I personally agree with the above, both are reliable, but I would go with TBI.
