hello I am new here

Hello I just bought my first camaro. It is an 86 with a 350 that has 327 heads on it.I just bought it for 500 bucks. It is just a regular camaro. Not an z-28 or anything.

I plan on setting the car up for street and strip.I have been around camaro's for as since I was born(mainly 69's)My dad has built several and is building another 69 right now.

I will have many questions that is why I joined this board.

I haven't even drove the car yet.It has been sitting since 99 and the guy got it to run to bring it out to the road to sell it.The guys little brother was building the car and left and went to arizona. So when the guys brother called to tell him to sell it the guy said alright I will sell it.But for the price I want to sell it for.The guy didn't want to have it sitting in his yard 4-sale forever so he sold it to me for 500 bucks. The main reason I am buying the car is the body is very straight with hardly any rust. The paint is terrible but the body is in good shape plus it alreayd has a 350 in it.So it shouldn't be to hard to coax some power out of it.

The car runs great and didn't smoke or anything. It has a quadrajunk carb and is stock everything.Except the car originaly came with a 305.The kid found a 350 short block and used some 327 heads and the rest of the stuff of the 305.

So I am not expecting to be a runner right off the bat.But Hopefully it will be.T

Congrats on the car These are really good cars with a lot of potential for speed. The reason why I chose my TA over a mustang was I liked the style the car had. Just too many stangs out there. Good Luck on the car and welcome to the boards.

I'll say welcome as well.

But, don't sell that carb short. It's the best street/strip compromise out there. I'm having to drive the '57 to work this week because I ran into some "issues" putting the shift kit in the Camaro; it was 75 degrees outside Monday, 23 yesterday, 35 today, and believe me, the Camaro is much better equiped to handle temp swings and still run with the big dogs than the '57 is.

With the proper supporting cast, that carb will do you right.

So far my plans for the engine. Are at first just an intake, holley 750 vacaum secondary carb, headers and flowmasters.

Then later on go with a cam, roller valvetrain and port the heads.I know all the parts must be matched properly to make big power. But I am on am tight budget.

First I am redoing the suspensio and brakes and maybe doing a 9 inch swap.Just a junkyard 9 inch. Not like a currie or anything.Put 4.10 gears, spool and strange axles so I will still have a chevy bolt pattern. Then doing the body getting the car in primer and then the motor and transmission and last but not least painting it and putting wheels weld pro-stars with some kind of street strip tire.Hopefully 10.5 inch m/t e/t streets.I am not sure if they will fit in the fender wells or not.

After getting beat by a 95 3.4 liter camaro in my sonoma. And getting smoked by a built 67 mustang last night I am really wanting to try and get this car on the road asap!
