Hey all,
Just to let you know about the new spring compressor I got from the US for £23 inc shipping. I've been after one of those ones which go up through the middle for ages, instead of those god awful things which attatch to the sides. I always seem to remember the proper ones being around £80. So I was pleased when I saw a set on a very well known auction site from a seller called toolcityusa. I've read all them posts about frigging about with jacks and stuff. If you've ever popped a set out you'll know what I mean. These work awesome

Like I said "doing the job properly" if you want to subscribe to the Fred Dibnah school of engineering and risk damaging paint, yourself and whatever then go ahead. I was posting with a view of its inexpensive to get the right tools and to help other members. But as usual someone knows better?! I won't bother friggin posting next time

damaging paint?
Have you even tried removing a spring before?..Compressor or not the prcedure is the same. You have to ease the contral arm down so nothing would fly off..I want to see you mount it on the middle too

Neil,
Do you have a pic of the compressor? Gordon was installing springs ans ended up getting a set out of machine mart that was small enough to go on the inside of the spring. He also has the larger ones that go on the outside, but these were no good for the job due to their bulk.

Sorry for the delay Robert, I'll post a picture soon. Or there again I might jack the car up **** around with a jack and demolish a chimney with some old tyres while I'm at it
If you don't know what the hell I'm on about then no problem . nevermind
