hooker vs flowmaster
well just a muffler with no headers is never really that loud ( i have this setup) but its louder than hooker i think but tehre is more to it than 'loudness' , its the quality and type of exhaust note that each give that makes them different... some like the flows ..... others (like mark a shields) like the hookers. talk to him about hookers and if you want to know anymore about the flows u can ask me.

I think flows are louder at idle, but I think the Hooker sounds stronger above 2500rpms the flows sound hollow to me.
the reason im asking is because the hooker outflowed the flowmaster 80 series and produced more hp and more ft/lbs of torque. but for some reason it produced less decibels (sp?). heres the charts if anyone is interested.

what do yall think of that? if these charts are accurate, the hooker is better than flowmaster and cost less. i know this will get someone riled up.

I love the sound of my Flowmaster. I was looking for the loudest most aggressive muffler and that is why I chose Flowmaster. Unless you have a really built up motor I doubt you will notice any performance difference between the two mufflers more of a sound difference. I prefer loud over quiet
it doesnt matter how built up your engine is, flow is flow and the more the merrier!
and i mean i like the way flowmaster sounds but why choke up your exhaust more and spend more money when there is a cheaper better flowing alternative. oh well it really comes down to personal preference. i havent ever heard the hooker in person, and i probably wont buy it untill i do. mark needs to drive to dallas so i can hear it.

Look at that only 1 more HP with open pipe.
Let the charts speak for themselves.
I know IROCTWENTYGR8 is going to have something to say, where's he at?

Yea but in my case what is the point of buying a muffler just on flow? If flow was a huge factor I would use a glasspack or 1 chamber muffler. I was looking for sound. I hardly think I am choking up my system. What does the 80s flow CFM wise anyways? That chart show a 40s and a delta flow but not an 80s.

Actually the power your motor has will play a role in how much of a % of hp is in the restriction. Like on that page they did the test on a 406 which I'm sure has high HP so the numbers will show a greater difference on that. So basically when you step down to our level you won't be sacrificing much performance for the sound you prefer.

I won't be able to get more clips till this weekend, I leave the car at home while at college, if you can wait that long. Any particular thing you want me to do. Idle, taking off, revving ... Oh, those sound clips I did were shifting at only 4,000 rpms by the way, I'll get it up a little past 5k for ya.
i would like a high speed WOT drive by, and a launch and then just cruising. if thats too much to ask. thanks alot. i can wait a while because i wasnt planning on buying the muffler for a few weeks.

I'll see what I can do for ya. Just to let you know, recently I've gotten a bad exhaust leak, I'm going to get under it this weekend to see what's up.

The 80 Series will be louder. In performance, there will not be much of a difference. Check out the "manufacturers" results. (which are definetly not something to absolutly go by) Flowmaster was louder and barely different in most cases in performance. They make it look like its alot with the chart, but its not really. But we will go by it for a second.
CFM-
Flowmaster: 357
Aerochamber: 441
Difference: 84 CFM
HP-
Flowmaster: 472
Aerochamber: 480
Difference: 8 HP
Torque-
Flowmaster: 463
Aerochamber:477
Difference: 14 ft. lbs.
Sound-
Flowmaster: 88
Aerochamber: 80
Difference: 8 dB's
For those supposed slight differences I'd rather have the Flowmaster's loudness and sound. And differences vary on power output. But I ask, have you ever seen a really high HP car with an Aerochamber?? I think not.
Have you seen them with Flowmaster?? Definetly.

And if you really want sound and power, get like a 1 chamber or something. The best Aerochamber is not gonna outflow Flowmasters best, this is why they are used on higher powered cars and are specifically made for it.

Well I've had my 80 series flowmaster on for about a month ( if that) and I've had 2 people flag me down in a parking lot asking what I'm running! I've had a lot of other people just ask, but I've had 2 people go out of their way to find out......
So I've had good results with my Flowmaster and as of now I see no reason that I (not saying nobody else shouldn't) buy anything but a flowmaster.
By the way, that is the only thing on my exhaust system that is NOT stock.
