Question for all of you who run h-pipes and true duals.......

ok, do you run long tube headers and if so what are the clearance issues and the ways around them........... or do you run shorties and if so how do they bolt up to the h-pipe, fabrication? exhaust leak problems? clearance issues? ..... thanks

i am runnin long tubes and the only clearance i have is the collector and that is big bumps. the rest of the exhaust has no cleanrance problems at all. well unless you count that racoon in the middle of the road that took everythin from the mufflers back off. but that was it. just dont run anything over.

With long tubes, the collectors will be the main clearance issue on those. With the shorty's you're going to have to custom bend the pipes yourself, or have an exhaust shop do it. by doing it that way there shouldn't be any clearance issues since they are custom bent for your car. These would go into the h pipe the same way long tubes would. You shouldn't have any leaks if it's done right.

You could run shorties I guess, but the biggest reason the collecter on the long tubes are "the" clearance problem is the the headers have to come down far enough to clear the framerail/transmission x member, and even with dual pipes coming off shorties, they will hang pretty low at that point, but if you are only running 2 1/2 exhaust or so, then you could tuck it a little lower. I have long tubes, 3" pipes w/ H Pipe, and 1 chambers, and they rarely ever scrub, unless I go over those big rubber speedbumps in some parking lots. The plus side is the exhaust I put on my car didn't kill any ET. I lost a little trap speed, but I picked up 60' time, which let the car run almost identical ET's with and w/o exhaust.
