Need help with hollow cat

I want to put a straight pipe right through the catalytic, but there is a horizontal bar going across the middle of the cat that won't let me. I tried to cut it with a hacksaw blade, but it is not very effective. The blade is barely long enough, and I can't put any force into it cause I have to use my fingertips in order for it to reach the stupid bar. I gave it a 20 minute try today, and all I did was scratch it. I can't think of anything else that I can use that would be useful. Anyone have any ideas?

Just get rid of the cat and put a piece of pipe there. That's how it is on mine, and it sounds good.
