Could it be a blown Cat?
Could it be a blown Cat?
A few nights ago I was driving around and at a stop light I heard a noise from under the passenger side of the car. It sounded like the heat sheild on the Cat was lose and rattling around. Well today I got under the car and was looking aroundand the shield is on nice and tight. So I started to look at the hangers and welds to see if one was lose or something, all were good. So I took at a little tap on the cat to see if I could make the sound, and it did. It sounds like there is a tin can in the cat or something, like a baffle came out. Could this have happened? Or what else could it be? I gotta figure something out ASAP cuz it sounds like complete A$$. If it is a Blown Cat, any suggestions for a new one, besides a gutted? Thanks alot

It sounds like the cat. Does the car heat up more than normal, or any loss in performance? Typically, if you beat on the cat with rubber mallot and hear rattling, then the cat is bad, which causes excessive engine heat, and poor performance. Unbolt it and check it out.
Replacement, no cat (like me), or hollowed cat (looks stock but isnt), or a Catco catalytic converter (for a performance stock replacement).
