I'm looking for a new cat. I've decided on random technologies' high flow cat, but I don't know if I need one with an AIR tube. I've got an 86 IROC.

 

Do you have a visual emissions check? Stock you would have the air tube, but if you wanted to get rid of the air pump under the hood, you could get one of the ones that doesnt require the air tubes.

I have had two random tech cats. They come with connections on both sides of the cat for the air hook up. You can hook it up if you want but randam cats don't need the additional air... go to there web site... it explains. These cats are made of new materials compared to our original ones. The cat will come with inserts that can be hammered in to close up the holes. This is what I did. I then pulled out the air tube that went down to the cat. I just bought a catco cat. Both my random tech cats broke up. One was my fault for bouncing off of a speed bump but the other went for no reason. Looking through the catco, it is much more restrictive than the random tech but I wanted to try another brand. You can almost look right through a random tech cat.
