Easiest Installed Exhaust System
Easiest Installed Exhaust System
The underside of my car just got chaffed by some freak piece of metal that came out of nowhere the other day, so I'm in the market for a new cross member and a new exhaust system. I have an 89 Camaro RS with a 305 TBI, and I just want an exhaust system that will easily replace the stock one without any modification (if such a system exists). Sound and performance are definately a plus, but I'm too stupid about cars to do it myself, and I want to cut back on labor costs.
Just thought I'd ask around though, cause the guy at my local autoshop is gonna put in some stock crap unless I find something better. I think he wants around $600 just for parts, with the reason that 'the parts for these kind of camaros are hard to find... blah blah etc etc".

The exhaust parts for these are not hard to find. Look at the hooker or flowmaster catbacks. There are plenty of others also. Try listening to some of the sound clips people post and see what you like. I believe that the hooker catback for your car is like 260 dollars. How much of the exhaust needs to be replaced.

Well, everything up to the muffler and tips were damaged by the accident, but the muffler and tips are pretty rusted out anyhow, so I'm just going to replace everything. So there are Hooker and Flowmaster kits that will fit in the existing clips and all that? Same size pipes?

I'd say go for the Hooker cat-back. $200 from summit, and then either have a custom y-pipe made, or get the one from hooker.
