just changed my oil and found....

out that the old lady we had bought my car bottomed out once. i'm not exactly sure which pipe it is but the one to the right (passenger side) of the transmission is smashed in a good inch or so. How much would it increase my 1/4 mile times do you suppose to "fix" the dent? The fastest i have gone is 16.40 but generally i am in the 16.80-17.00 range. The 16.4 was without deep staging but i realized i have to because .700 lights don't win. Thanks in advance.

The only pipe to the right of the tranny is where the cat connects to the I-pipe.

If the dent is as bad as you say then definitely get it fixed. If its a stock exhaust then its a good time for an upgrage!

I doubt the dented pipe is hurting you much. The entire exhaust (y-pipe, cat, cat-back) is so restrictive, a little smash on one of them probably wouldn't be noticeable. Your times don't seem much off of other guys with stock TBI's.

I do agree, though, that a completely new system (headers, y-pipe, cat, cat-back) would be the right place to start performance mods. Just don't buy any of those parts that are made to fit TBI applications - get them for the '86-'91 single-cat TPI applications.
