New Kid Asking for Help of Gurus

I bought my 1985 z28 (LG4) in february of this year and have been waiting for money to power my plans. My car has few mods: flowmaster cat-back w/ 80-series muffler, accel hei super coil, and random dress-up items under the hood that the previous owner stuck on.
I was wondering if you guys could give me some pointers or just tell me what you think of my exhaust plan. I'd like to convert it to dual exhaust, so here's my plan: Hedman tork-step headers into dynomax hi-flow cats into flowmaster universal h-pipe into dynomax glasspacks (they're cheap and i'm only 17). These parts would all be tied together with a dynomax 2.25" universal dual kit that exits in front of the rear tires. Would 2 1/4" be too small?
You dont have to answer this part because i can probably find it elsewhere in this forum, but what do you recommend i do with the AIR tube going to my cat and whatever tubes are coming out of my manifolds (im not sure if they are AIR or EGR... ) Sometime i'd like to get rid of the emissions crap under the hood.

thanks for your help

Those are air tubes running out of your manifold and I would recommend this as I have done it. Remove the AIR pump and your cat, then do your exhaust however you want but glasspacks? lets face it, they suck and sound like a truck. Do yourself a favor and save up to buy Flowmaster. It makes a world of difference!! good luck

This might sound dumb, but where is the air pump... What is the black cylinder on the front drivers side of my engine compartment? Ive been told that it's a charcoal thing...
Thanks for the input, i need cats because it has to pass emissions, and i have a flowmaster 80 on my car right now. its loud but not holy **** loud. Are flowmaster 40s louder?

the air pump on your engine should be on the lower left side on the front on the engine. it is powered by the belt connected to the waterpump pulley. it looks somewhat similar to the alternator.
