Smog Pump Removal

Is it difficult to remove the smog pump? What all do you have to remove? How much horsepower will I gain? I'm plan on getting headers and a flowmaster...

Car: 1985 Z28 Camaro

Engine: 5.0 TPI

Transmission: 700R-4

Axle/Gears: Posi Richmond 3.73

If your pump is driven by a separate belt, then it's easy. If not, then you need to buy a new belt and reroute it. There is a tech article for serpentine equiped cars. You can then remove the air tubes and diverter valve.
