single 3" vs 2.25" dual (anda rant)
single 3" vs 2.25" dual (anda rant)
I know this has been done, but I can't find it. And I need a place to vent.
I just got screwed out of my dual exhaust basically. I loved it, and will go back to it as soon as I can. Here's the story...
Dropped my car off monday at a local mechanic who was going to do some work for us (dad and I). He was going to install some headers, get rid of the air pump, cut out the cats and put an H or X pipe in their place, and install some new mufflers. The header install goes smooth and he's done about 1:00.
The car sits at his shop for the rest of the day. He "didn't have time" to bring it down to the other exhaust shop for the remaining work. Next day comes around I'm expecting the car to be done around noon. So my dad checks in on it. It's sitting at his shop. "I don't have anyway of moving the car." Great excuse. So I call back later. And it's STILL sitting at his shop. By this time I'm getting pissed.
Third day, today. He finally gets around to bringing the car down to the other shop. Gets it down there and the guy says there is a problem. He can't work with the dual exhaust, even though on the phone it wasn't a problem at all. All he had to do was install the new mufflers and put an H pipe inplace of the cats. If he couldn't do that I told him just to go with straight pipes. Well, that didn't get done. My dad goes down there and talks to the guy. By this time he just wanted the car back. I, myself, would have just taken the car with open headers and tried to find some other shop, even if it meant not driving the car for another few days. My dad reluctantly agreed to put a 3" system on it, all because of a dumbass mechanic. When I found out, I was f*cking pissed to hell.
So basically I got an flowmaster 80 series on there now that when I hit about 1600-1900 rpms it sounds like a damn golf ball bouncing around in there. The rattling gave me a headache after just 5 minutes in the car. Not to mention the two tailpipes are not lined up evenly. Sorry, was just venting as I'm quite dissappointed.
But how does a single 3" flow compared to dual 2.25"?

they flow about the same, but are you actually surprised a shop didnt want to do true duals on a thirdgen? i am not saying its impossible, but not one shop would do it here.
