I got SLP headers on my car now!!!!!!

I had some exhaust shop put SPL 1 3/4" headers w/ the Y-pipe on my car. After that I rode around with open headers (or should it be called open Y-pipe?). That was kind of exciting. Then I put my 3" I-pipe on. Still loud as holy hell. I'm gonna put the glasspack on tomarrow. It sounds pretty good now, really loud but still good sounding. It's gonna sound great with that glasspack tomarrow.

The headers didn't fit all that great. One of the primaries had to be banged to hell to clear the stearing. The pipe going from the driver's side header to the Y-pipe wasn't the right size either. It had to be cut and welded. Overall, they're pretty nice though.

Did you install new motor mounts before you put your headers in? I had someone install ES polyurethane motor mounts and the headers fit fine.

Same here. I put a new motor mount in and it cleared the steering arm. I was glad because I didnt want to hit my headers with the coating and all on them.

Yep, if the headers hit the steering arm then your motor mounts are shot, and your engine is shifted over. New motor mounts will fix that, but you've already dented the headers...

Dented headers are NOT what I want. I'm working on getting some L98 aluminum heads and want to get SLP headers while I'm at it. Who makes those motor mounts? Have a part number? How much did they charge you for installing the headers? Thanks. John

You can get stock GM motor mounts from any GM dealer or you can get poly motor mounts from any energy suspension dealer.

FWIW, I put the ES motor mounts in and still had contact on the steering shaft, SLP said my car must've been in an accident. Ding 'em? No prob.

Get the ES motor mounts from Summit. They are 50 for the pair. I got mine from PST and they charged me 50 each. Damn I am pissed at them. Oh well I wont order anything from them. Call summit and ask for ENS-3-1116. You can get them in black red or blue. If you want black put a g after the number, b if you want blue or r for red.

For those who have poly, do you notice more engine vibrations then you had before with the rubber mounts?

I find it kind of strange that people have trouble with the motor mounts. When I put my SLP's on last month I had no clearence problems at all. And this was on a 100k mile car too.

I put new motor mounts on when I installed my 1 3/4"s and have had no problems with the steering coming close to the headers. There's a good 1/2" there.

I used stock motor mounts BTW, didn't want to use poly ones because of rumors about bad vibrations and it just wasn't worth it.
