Eliminating muffler......???
i have a cat back flowmaster exhaust system and...dont get me wrong....sounds nice.....but was wondering how to get it a little bit louder? i think that the cat has been changed cause it doesnt look stock and the pipe from the cat back to the muffler is 3". Plus a didnt want to go through the strain of putting headers on it......any ideas????

puttin in headers is a simple, simple procedure. put a straight pipe through your cat. you want it to be loud get some performace parts in the engine

or eliminate/hollow out the cat. I put a delta flow 40 series in the place of my old cat and stock exaust and it is pretty damn loud. Take out the cat or hollow it out and put a pipe straight through it and youll get some more sound out of it. Cats eat sound.

These all sound like really good idea's to me. I put a 3 inch cut out on my 91 Z28 5.7 (L98) (both cats removed, 3 inch cat back 80 series flowmaster and 3 1/2 inch tips) and it is loud as hell when it's all the way open.....way to loud for the street. If you decide to go with a cut out.....you may want to invest in getting a McCord Power Plate II. It's an electronic valve that allows you to adjust the volume of the cut out by the flip of a switch. I've heard a 1991 Z28 5.7 (L98) with one of the series 40 Flowmasters on it and it sounds really good.....the reason I went witha cut out is that you can have it like a "raw" loud or an "aggressive flowmaster loud"....but....all of these guys have great idea's.
